Customization and sleek appeal is Ford's main goal this year, as we can see with every 2020 model and the Fusion is no different. The attractive, sleek facade on the Fusion has always offered an appeal and this year the 2020 model is loyal to that trend. This year's model brings in a few new standards that can be enjoyed in whatever trim you choose and adds a variety of options that you can use to customize your driving experience and improve your commute.
The Basics
There's a variety of Fusions, the Fusion Hybrid being a standout in its class. You can order this particular model in SE, and SEL trim, or you can turn to the plug-in hybrid, the Fusion Energi, which only comes in the Titanium trim and has a 25-mile electric range. You can trick out the sporty sedan with a turbo-4 engine in both 1.5 and 2.0-liter sizes. Notably, the best upgrade is the 325 horsepower turbocharged V6 engine that comes in the Fusion Sport that has the get-up-and-go everyone is looking for. As far as mileage, you'll be looking at around 40mpg for the Fusion Hybrid no matter how or where you're driving it. It's steady and consistent, which is reflective of the model throughout the years.
The Aesthetic

Remarkably, the Fusion came out all the way back in 2012, and was rated highly for many awards. We're proud to say, that the 2020 model follows in its predecessor's footsteps. It's just as eye-catching and impressive as the day it came out, mostly because Ford has made an effort to keep the car chic and stunning. That effort has paid off. The most eye-catching portion of the car has to be Aston  Martin-inspired grill and hood. You'll notice the hood and grill are rather wide and complemented by a series of horizontal chrome bars that drag the light across the body and give the styling a very futuristic feeling. Combined with subtle uses of chrome and exposed exhaust pipes, the low sloping roof of the car all come together to give it a subdued and measured sporty feel. The interior is outfitted with a stunning 8-inch infotainment screen that has the Waze app pre-installed and is compatible with both Apple and Android connections. The sharp lines paired with matte silver coloring all over the dash completes the overall influence of the modern feeling on the interior and exterior of the vehicle.

Behind The Acceleration

You don't purchase a car because you never want to go above 20 mph. You purchase a vehicle to get where you're going faster. The Fusion does that and so much more. While the Fusion is a humble model of sedan, it never under delivers on any promises. In fact, the ride is easily superior to most mid-size sedans and the turbo addition gives it more than just a little pick-up-and-go. Both the SE and SEL trims come a 181 horsepower turbo-4 that settles the torque at the lower end and doesn't shy away from great acceleration from the start line, but our favorite has to be the race car-esque Fusion Titanium's 2.0-liter turbo 4 that can pull it's 245 horsepower easily. The Fusion Sport matches the chic futuristic look with a high-rev engine that doesn't shy away from the gas pedal. A 2.7 liter V6 in a car that weighs as much as the Fusion is a lot of power. You're looking at 325 hp with 380 pound-feet of torque which means brisk acceleration and meaningful handling. In other words, it drives like a sports car without the price or the "look-at-me" design that can seem over-stated to some.
While the Fusion has always been a gem, the real improvement highlight this year lies in the safety rating. Arguably one of the most important ratings accompanying any vehicle, it's merely built-in with larger cars and taken for granted. Sedans and mid-size vehicles tend to be less predictable which makes an impressive safety rating so much more important. With a new standard automatic emergency braking system, the vehicle has been getting Superior ratings from the Top Safety Pick and NHTSA testing found five-star ratings for every variety of Fusion, which is unusually high for both mid-size and regular sedan classes. The 2020 Ford Fusion is notably equipped across all trim levels with the automatic emergency braking that's winning the wide-spread recognition, as well as active pedestrian detection, lane control, automatic high-beam lights and blind spot monitors. These are notable and huge leaps toward better safety for the people inside the vehicle as well as those in other vehicles.
